There were 38,000 people working in Northeast in 2008. Of these, 83% had full-time jobs, a larger percentage than in any other region of the province. The average rate of full-time employment for all of BC was 80%.
The North Peace is one of the most unique geographical regions in Canada. From prairie farmland and boreal forest to alpine tundra and rugged Rocky Mountains.
Over the past eight years, the Federal government has reduced corporate tax rates in Canada by 30%. The most recent reduction was announced in 2007: the corporate tax rate is being reduced from 22.12% to 15% by 2012.
Due to the huge shale gas finds in NEBC, over 80,000 jobs are expected to be created between Fort Nelson, Fort St. John and Dawson Creek over the next 25 years.
