The Commission
The North Peace Economic Development Commission, on behalf of the City of Fort St. John, the District of Taylor, the District of Hudson's Hope and the Peace River Regional District Electoral Areas 'B' & 'C', welcomes your entrepreneurial spirit! Bisected by the mighty Peace River, the Peace River Regional District is divided into the North and South Peace regions, together comprising almost one-quarter of British Columbia's land area.
Bylaw 1531 of the Peace River Regional District mandates the North Peace Economic Development Commission. The Commission consists of five equal voting members; City of Fort. St John, District of Taylor, District of Hudson's Hope, Peace River Regional District Electoral Area "B" and Peace River Regional District Electoral Area "C." The position of Chair rotates yearly. The Economic Administrator manages daily operations from an office located in the North Peace Business & Resource Centre. The Commission's mission statement is to "encourage economic development projects to diversify and strengthen the economy of the North Peace." The Commission is primarily concerned with eliminating the barriers to economic development in the North Peace region.
