The North Peace economic region is the ancestral home to the Beaver and Athabasca speaking tribes: Blueberry River First Nations, Halfway River First Nation and Doig River First Nation.

54% of the population is between the ages of 25 and 64, while only 24% are between the ages of 0 and 17 and only 10% for ages 18 to 24.

Two dams on the mighty Peace River near Hudson's Hope produce hydroelectric power for the region.

The region produces more wheat, barley and grass seed than any other region of the province. The North Peace River region's expansive prairie land base supports some 1,700 farms that generate total revenue of $77 million per year.

Over 320,000 visitors travel through the North Peace each year. This provides numerous business opportunities.

The Peace Region produces 90 per cent of the province's grain, 38 per cent of its hydroelectric power, has some of the largest gas fields in North America with over 20,000 wells drilled, employs about 2,300 forestry workers and plays host to 300,000 tourists each year.

Fort St. John is situated 940km from Calgary and 1255km from Vancouver. Both destinations have International Airline Connection with the North Peace Regional Airport.

The North Peace includes a 4.5 million-hectares timber supply, that directly employs 600 people and returns $90 million a year to the local economy.
